Power Has Been Restored - 4/21/17 @ 11:39 a.m.

Earlier this morning, we experienced a power outage. Elk River Municipal Utilities line crews were dispatched to the scene where they worked quickly and safety to restore power to the areas that were affected.

Annual Hydrant Flushing

The water department is gearing up to start the annual fire hydrant flushing. Staff will be flushing hydrants throughout the city the week of May 8-12, 2107.  Click here to view a map with the zones and days we'll be flushing.

Flushing is imperative to the water main system as it flushes sediment from the water lines and exercises the hydrant to ensure it works properly in the case of an emergency.  Here are some things to be aware of during the week of flushing:

  • If you see ERMU staff flushing in your neighborhood, please try to refrain from washing clothes or using your water.  There is the potential to draw discolored water into the home while the flushing is taking place.
  • If you do see discolored water, please run your cold water for 15-20 minutes.  If the discoloration persists, please contact our customer service department at 763.441.2020.
  • If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate contacting us.
