ERMU purchases electric power from a whole supplier that generates and delivers the power to our distribution system. This accounts for approximately 70% of our annual operating budget. Our power supplier has increased rates for 2018, and we have worked hard to accommodate that increase while at the same time controlling costs.
The 2018 electric rates will result in increases of 1% or less for typical customers in all rate classes; this equates to a $14 per year increase for a typical residential customer.
The water rates will increase slightly in 2018, resulting in an estimated 1.85% increase for a typical residential water customer; this equates to a $5 increase for the year.
